The wetland is located on the southwest corner of Cheng Ching Lake, extending north to the entrance gate to Cheng Ching Lake and bordered by Dapi Road, south to County Road 183B and west to Cheng Ching Road.

Introduction
This wetland was originally the sedimentation pond of Taiwan Water Corporation. Non-governmental organizations, scholars and experts fought together for the development of wetland ecological park in this area. It is currently under the management of Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society, and has become an important venue for wetland and environmental education.

Ecological resources of importance
The wetland abuts Cheng Ching Lake on the north. Visitors may observe black-naped orioles (level 1 protected and endangered wildlife species) resting at Cheng Ching Lake, Yuanshan Golf Course and Niaosong Wetland. Niaosong Wetland provides ample food sources for the animals. With managed care and cultivation, there are currently nearly 180 species of plants in the area, including many rare native species. There are 96 bird species (23 families and 38 species recorded in 2015), including endemic species such as Taiwan scimitar babbler and Taiwan barbet; 166 insects; 11 families and 15 species of amphibians and reptiles.
