This wetland extends north to Provincial Highway 17 (Shuangyuan Bridge), south to the tip of Linyuan Levee (550 meters north of Shanwei Fish Harbor), west to Linyuan Levee (excluding the levee and levee facilities), and east to Gaoping riverbed.

Introduction
Linyuan Manmade Wetland is located at Gaoping Estuary, and was formerly known as Gaoping Estuary Linyuan Mangrove Ecological Area. Abutting Linyuan Petro-chemical Industrial Zone, it is the southernmost wetland in Kaohsiung City. Currently, the 7th River Management Office of Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs has commissioned Linyuan District Mangrove Protection Association of Kaohsiung City to beautify the front and rear of the levee with vegetation and maintain the area.

Ecological resources of importance
The wetland is located at Gaoping Estuary. In 2004, Gaoping River was chosen as Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) by BirdLife International. A total of 141 bird species have been recorded at the estuary. The linear distance between Fongshan Reservoir and Linyuan Manmade Wetland at Gaoping Estuary is approximately 4.5 kilometers. The great cormorants forage on the left bank of Gaoping River during the day, and rest at Fongshan Reservoir or by the deep waters upstream at night.
