  • Introduction

Taidrengere Importnat Wetland is located next to the main ridgeline of Central Mountain Range. It is a natural inland wetland developed around the alpine lake. The lake has an average depth of 0.76 m with stable water level year round. It is adjacent to the primary broadleaf forest and the pure forest of endangered Taiwania cryptomerioides. The topography is mixed. Being the sacred site of the Rukai people, human interference is minimal. The forest stand is quite intact with rich ecological resources.

Taidrengere Important Wetland and the ecological system in adjacent alpine lakes are called “Xuanguei Lake Major Wildlife Habitat”, which forms the conservation corridor with Dawushan Nature Reserve and Chuyunshan Nature Reserve.
A wide variety of animal and plant species are found here, including 8 orders, 24 families and 34 species of mammals, birds, amphibians and fish. Among them, 14 are protected species. Additionally, there are 53 families, 76 genera and 100 species of plants.
