Introduction
This is a natural coastal wetland located at Hualien Estuary in the Hualien River basin that encompasses land, river and ocean areas. Changes tend to occur at sensitive areas such as the sandbanks within the wetland, the brackish water and the effluent. Typhoon or torrential rain may result in changes that affect the local habitat.
This wetland is located at the midpoint of the 4 natural coastal and estuary wetlands, and has become an important intermediate resting and breeding ground for migratory and transient wintering birds. It is designated as Important Bird Area (IBA) No.43. -
